mother's presence
McNeil River, Alaska - Edition of 500 Young bears face many perils in their first few years of life. Mother bears are constantly on alert for any threats to their cubs. In this image, several bears moved into a popular fishing spot where this mother and cub has been feeding. This wise and protective sow moved herself and her cub to a nearby vantage point to assess the situation before returning to fishing. taken 6/08
