Salmon Search
Katmai National Park, Alaska - Edition of 500 The summer salmon runs provide brown bears with the valuable fat they need to make it through the long Alaskan winters. Each bear has a slightly different technique - some wait in one spot while others run up and down the rivers chasing fish. This bear took an intermediate approach and patrolled a small stretch of stream. It had just tried for salmon and came up empty and was dripping wet from the attempt. taken 8/01
