SHumba Lookout
Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe- Edition of 500 While most cats are solitary, lions depend on the pride for survival. They form bonds as a pride through grooming, hunting, and sharing the responsibilities of raising cubs. This pride of 16 lioness plus a few cubs roamed the Hwange savannahs in search of their prey. Although rarely seen during the day, this group found the shade of a tree in the early morning from which to scan the surrounding landscape. Shumba is the word for lion used in the language of a Zimbabwean tribe. taken 6/06
