Spring Cubs
Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming- Edition of 950 Grizzly cubs are born in the protection of the den during the harsh winter months. Only inches long, they rely on their mother's fat reserves to sustain them in the den. They usually emerge from the den in April and immediately begin a playful exploration of the new world around them. These cubs likely emerged from their den only about a month before this image was taken. They were extremely energetic, curious, and playful ....and keenly aware of the protection provided by their mother. taken 5/99
