Summer's End
Uncompahgre National Forest, Colorado - Edition of 95 Chlorophyll is present in the leaves of aspen trees and is the necessary compound for photosynthesis. During the long days of summer, the chlorophyll is continually produced and gives the leaves their green color. As the days shorten and the temperatures drop, chlorophyll production slows and eventually stops. As this happens, the remaining compounds in the leaf show their true colors which range from yellow to red. The result of this natural process is the radiant display of fall colors. taken 9/10
