While always stunning, the intensity of the fall aspen colors varies from year to year and aspen grove to aspen grove. Known for their typical brilliant yellow-gold colors, some trees present beautiful combinations of orange and red. As the autumn days shorten, the trees stop producing chlorophyl and the natural color of their leaves shows for a brief time before they fall to the ground. The contrasting white trunks of the aspen trees make this colorful scene one of nature's most beautiful displays.
