Only a few miles inland from the majestic coastal redwood forests, the thick fog gives way to sunnier skies and open meadows.  The vegetation changes from conifers to deciduous trees like the California Oak.   Amazing swaths of lupines inhabit the meadows.  Although purple-blue in color, the orange light from the evening sunset changes their hue to this beautiful color.  Long shadows cover the hillside while the last rays of the day illumination this oak and lupine flowers.
