Bull Moose are an icon of Alaska. Seemingly twice the size of moose in the lower 48, these solitary animals are giant. During the fall rut, they shed the velvet from their antlers and patrol the tundra in search of female moose. On a nearly perfect autumn morning, this large bull wanders the rolling hills and heads toward a kettle pond for some water. Pausing on a ridge to survey his surroundings, the glacier-capped peaks of the Alaska Range tower over the landscape and frame this beautiful scene.
