Katmai National Park, Alaska

The summer salmon runs provide brown bears with the valuable fat they need to make it through the long Alaskan winters.  Each bear has a slightly different fishing technique - some wait patiently in one spot while others run up and down the rivers chasing fish.  This bear took an intermediate approach and patrolled a small stretch of stream.  It had just tried for a salmon, came up empty, and was dripping wet from the attempt.
