Yellowstone National Park

Although stunningly beautiful, winter in Yellowstone is a very difficult time for animals.  Deep snows bury food and extreme cold make it difficult to stay warm.  The geothermal areas of the park heat the ground keeping it snow-free and providing these bison some warmth and fresh grass. The sub-zero temperatures are evident by the beautiful coat of frost on the trees as the morning sun emerges from the fog.
