The Cumbres & Toltec scenic railroad chugs its way up and down Cumbres Pass each day during the spring, summer and autumn.  The echo of the whistle in the canyons and valleys adds a bit of nostalgia to the San Juan experience.  The train requires two engines to power up the steep part of the pass as shown in this snowy, autumn picture.
