Bear Creek, Telluride, Colorado

During the last ice age, glaciers sculpted many areas in the Rocky Mountains and helped create the beauty that exists today.  U-shaped glaciated valleys are a classic trademark of the massive ice rivers that once slowly moved down the mountains.  Now surrounded by towering peaks and supporting vibrant forests and streams, it is hard to imagine how different the area looked 10,000 years ago. A late-December snowstorm blanketed the landscape, and the gathering clouds signaled the approach of a new storm.
