Mustangs and Antelopes
Western Colorado
As you may know, wild horses are often rounded up in the American West. Although the BLM claims that the round-ups are needed to prevent over-grazing and starvation, the truth has more to do with catering to cattle interests. When the animals are rounded up, many of them are put up for adoption. All of the horses in this image were rounded up in several different locations around the West. They were then adopted by a compassionate foundation which has provided this private land as a long-term home for them. They haven’t been tamed in any way, but have become a bit more used to humans. Subsequently, they were very interested in my approach. A small band of antelope shared the land with these horses and created a true scene of the Wild West.
