Serengeti National Park, Tanzania
The name Serengeti comes from a Maasai word meaning ‘endless plains.’ This incredible wildlife habitat really does seem to stretch on forever. Vast herds of animals make their home here, following the rains and the ensuing green grass. During the rainy season, numerous clouds fill the sky and help create amazing sunrises and sunsets. In this image, the sun is rising over the mountains near the famous Ngorongoro Crater. Zebra cast their silhouettes on the horizon line while a few gazelles pass by in the foreground.
