Harbor seals thrive on the West Coast of North America and into the Arctic. In Alaska, their fur and blubber insulate them from the cold water. They congregate on the ice which provides protection from predators. The salmon rich waters of Prince William Sound are perfect hunting grounds for these seals.  They feed on the bounty of food near the mouths of salmon streams. Then return to the safety of the ice flows to rest and enjoy a rare sunny day.
